The food is perfect! Just like my mom's only I don't have to go to Florida to eat it! There was a small misunderstanding of when I needed my catering order, but they fixed it right away and everyone at my holiday party raved about how great it was! I'd love to go to the restaurant itself and dine there soon, since it looked lovely when I went in to pick up my order. Thank you for everything

I'm updating my review from long ago because this place has changed for the better! They updated the look inside and the staff is VERY friendly. I ordered trays of food for my daughter's birthday and everything was spectacular. The pernil was fresh and plenty. The salad was shockingly delicious with a ton of avocado and delicious dressing.

The food is amazing! Had some of the food from a catered party. The food was picked up by the host of the party but let me tell you. DELICIOUS!!!! I had some pernil with arroz con candules! Potato salad, empanadas, some salad. I came from out of town and let me tell you! This reminded me of when my abuela was cooking. Definitely come get your fixings from here!! Can't wait to visit Jersey again and get more food!

I was finally able to try El Lechon and it was a great meal for sure! Upon walking in, it was pretty busy mostly for takeout. I asked the staff about dining in and luckily there was a table available for my friends and I. They had about 3 tables when I visited but they recently moved things around to fit more. Since it was all of our first times, the staff provided suggestions and answered any questions we had. As a pescatarian, they suggested bacalaitos (cod fish fritters only available on Fridays) and camarones w/ arroz con gondules (shrimp + yellow rice and pigeon peas). On the side I had to order fried plantains and a guava and cheese empanada. The food brought me back to living with my mom . Mom's food is always #1, and El Lechon brought back those memories in the kitchen! To go, I had to order a slice of their tres leches which definitely hit the spot. Since my friends and I visited close to closing, one of the staff came out and offered us coquito. She also chatted with us for a bit. I always love a business that likes to get to know their customers! The price of food wasn't crazy expensive, I think I spent around $30-$35 for everything in total. The plates range between $11-$15 each and includes 1 entree (pork, chicken, steak or shrimp), choice of rice (yellow or white) and a side (maduros/sweet plantain, tostones/fried plantain or boiled yuca). Check them out for some Puerto Rican eats! Also, check their menu for specials!

We were visiting from New York and found this restaurant on Yelp and Google, which both sites, gave great reviews. It was 20 minutes from our hotel. Pulling in, parking was good. The restaurant is in a small strip mall. Opening the door, me and my husband were immediately greeted with a smile. We were asked if we wanted to eat-in or take it to go, and we wanted to take it to go. The signs made it so easy to order. I ordered in my broken Spanish which brought a smile to my Hispanic husband's and the staffs' face. We were told the wait would be like 25 minutes but it felt way less than that. The welcoming atmosphere alone gives this place 5 stars. We sat comfortably as we waited for our food, and never once felt out of place. We ate the food back at the hotel and my husband first sentence was "mmm this is good!" It was good and so was the flan, although I like mine a pinch sweeter. I honestly don't need the extra sugar!!! We also ordered the steak and onions and the rice and beans with sweet plantains. Definitely recommend this place and we wish you much success!! My mother-in-law would approve . Shout out to Alvaro and Evelyn, thank you for such a welcoming visit!!

I have never had Puerto Rican food before so I can't say whether this is up to par compared to other places. However, I LOVED everything and I will absolutely be going back!!! I started off with a bbq pork empanada which was not only big so good. For my entree, I had the Bistec Encebollado and the sauce on the steak was amazing. I chose yellow rice and maduros with my meal. I had to get an extra side of maduros because I couldn't stop eating them. The person I was with had the Pernil plato with maduros and yellow rice. The pork was so good, but I wouldn't trade the steak for anything! The person I was with also had pastele which I personally didn't love but she thought it was great. The ambiance of the place is very casual and the place is rather tiny so if it's crowded you may have to sit outside or just do takeout. The service wasn't bad at all, the waitress was very nice.

Waaooo! I'd give this place a 10 stars if possible. Where do I start; the ambiance and the customer service is by far the best. Very friendly, welcoming, engaging, and attentive. Everyone on the staff is super happy and genuinely happy to be working there. The bathroom and tables were clean and so was the restaurant. The food OMG delicious? My brother has been here before and we drove almost an hour to get here and so worth. The lechón is prepared to perfection, cooked with flavor down to every piece of meat. The crunchy parts are so flavor full that we ordered a platter of just that. The sides such as the yuca and onions is delicious. Soft and moist with a delicious flavor. The papá rellena, was soft, and the meat very flavorful. I'd recommend a visit anytime your around. The restaurant is in a little shopping area, you can easily miss it but it's worth the drive and visit.

The truck was at the Paramus Food Truck Festival over the weekend. Pernil y Arroz con gandules, was delicious! Will have to make a trip to the brick and mortar location because if the food was this good from a food truck, I can't wait to try it freshly made and still hot LOL. Eating from a food truck, the food gets cold fast. LOL
